A letter from Dr. Teri Norfolk
Dear Esteemed Patients and Colleagues,
As the pages of time turn, I find myself at a crossroads, and it is with a heart full of gratitude and reflection that I share this news with you. After many years of dedicated service, I have decided to retire from clinical practice. My neck and shoulder and back are telling me it is time.
Our journey together has been a tapestry woven with so many stories. I truly enjoyed it when you shared what was going on in your own lives; the places you had travelled, the books you had read, the seeds you had sown and the best show you’d seen on Netflix. I feel like I have truly grown to know you fully as the mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, daughters and sons that you are. One of the greatest things about Downstream Dental was seeing three generations of the same family over the years. The privilege of being your healthcare provider has been the cornerstone of my professional life, and I am deeply thankful for the trust you have placed in me. Trust is no small thing and I never took it lightly. The original patients who gave me a chance after Dr. Blackburn retired will forever be in my heart. I am truly grateful for that opportunity.
Many of you remarked about the lovely garden and the relaxed waiting room and the sounds of laughter from the staff. So often these positive, uplifting comments would come right when we having a particularly challenging day and they encouraged the entire team to feel proud of what we were working so hard to accomplish.
Effective August 18, I will be closing this chapter of my career. While it’s not without a tinge of sadness, I am confident in the skills and compassion of my esteemed colleague, Dr. James Chen, who will be taking over the reins. James is committed to continuing the high standard of care that you deserve. Many of you have already met him as he has been with me for five years now.
I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for the relationships we’ve built and the trust you’ve bestowed upon me. Your health and well-being have always been my top priority, and it has been an honor to be a part of your lives.
As I step into retirement, I carry with me the memories of our shared victories and the resilience you’ve shown in the face of challenges. May your journey to continued good health and happiness be as rewarding as the journey we’ve shared together.
Maybe you’ll see me on the Pickleball Court or at the garden store! Please say hi!
Wishing you all the best in your future endeavors and with heartfelt thanks,
Dr. Teri Norfolk
